To wrap up our gratitude challenge this month, we’re sharing some ways you can try it too.
Here’s how to get started.
Choose a prompt below to spark conversation with a friend, family member or co-worker each day. Or, try it solo—choose a prompt and journal about your response. Take time for self-care and surround yourself with everything you enjoy—a favourite candle, your notebook and a warm drink.
Prompt one
We all need something to look forward to in life. In fact, a healthy sense of anticipation can often energize our lives and even help us get through difficult times.
1. What’s something you are looking forward to within the next few months and why?
Prompt two
We all have ideas of where we should be at certain ages and stages in our life—it’s easy to get caught in the traps of comparison, self-criticism or disappointment. But there’s always something to appreciate about every age, so embrace it.
2. Share something awesome about the age and stage of where you’re at today.
Prompt three
Perhaps it’s wisdom, an adorable new pet, a recently renovated basement or your first bike in years. Each year new things come into our life that we often forget to feel grateful for.
3. What’s something you’re are grateful to have today that you didn’t have a year ago and why is it meaningful?
Prompt four
It’s not always easy to trust our instincts. Sometimes it is fear of the unknown or what people might think. Maybe you are waiting for a sign or asking others to make a choice on our behalf.
4. Describe a time where you listened to your intuition and it worked out well. Was it easy to do?
Prompt five
Researchers say we can have anywhere from 20,000 to 80,000 thoughts per day and as many as half of those can be negative. It takes practice and awareness to be mindful of what we choose to think about.
5. Share three things, small or big, that have gone right for you so far in the last 24 hours.
Prompt six
Dessert is not only heavenly, it can put a sweet smile of satisfaction on our face. That’s because a number of ingredients found in desserts, such as fruits, nuts and chocolate, contain high levels of endorphins, minerals and antioxidants.
6. What dessert are you most grateful for? And who makes it best? Describe a special time when you had it.
Prompt seven
Physical health is a crucial part of our wellness, and it looks different for each of us— in the ways we may be challenged and in the ways that we are most strong. A walk or bike ride outside, an at home workout, taking a long cleansing breath or the delicious meal you made last night—our bodies allow us to do so much.
7. Name three things your body allows you to do that you enjoy? Pick one and share why you are grateful.
