Community is what connects us. At Alberta Blue Cross®, our team members share this passion for community connection through Hearts of Blue. Hearts of Blue is our employee-led charity where team members turn their passion for community into action. Since 1998, Hearts of Blue has encouraged team members to make a difference for those in need through donations and volunteering.

In 2023, Alberta Blue Cross® raised $75,858 through anonymous team member kindness, corporate matching initiatives and regular team member donations, aiding 45 organizations. These donations are thanks to countless team members’ time and resources.

The winter and holiday season is a hard time for many. To better aid communities, we increase support during these times. From care packages to clothing, we made an impact.

  • Santas Anonymous—we raised more than $1,500 and provided a car full of new, unwrapped toy donations to the annual toy drive.

  • Christmas Bureau of Edmonton—we donated to Adopt-A Teen to ensure youth aged 13 to 17 receive gifts during the holidays.
  • Operation Friendship Seniors Society—Hearts of Blue filled stockings for the Stocking Stuffers for Seniors program. Operation Friendship Seniors Society partnered with London Drugs and Friends to support roughly 4,000 local seniors. Volunteers filled stockings with blankets, socks, slippers, hygiene products, travel mugs and Christmas goodies.
  • Hope Mission—in December, a team member donated men’s and women’s underwear, socks, sweatpants, T-shirts, sweaters, jeans and jackets, along with hygiene products, to Hope Mission.
