Alberta Blue Cross® is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a new grant program to recognize exceptional volunteers across the province. Through this new Community Wellbeing grant program, Alberta Blue Cross is awarding 75 outstanding volunteers with $1,000 each in recognition of their contributions to community wellbeing. But that’s not all. An additional $1,000 will also be given to the charitable, non-profit or community-based organizations these volunteers work with.

The funding for this program comes from the ABC Benefits Corporation Foundation. As a champion for wellbeing, we lead and support various initiatives across the province to promote wellness and active living.

Volunteers play a vital role in creating thriving communities, and their efforts deserve to be celebrated. And that’s what this program is all about—celebrating the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to make a difference in our communities.

The Community Wellbeing grant program is an excellent opportunity to recognize the efforts of volunteers in Alberta who go above and beyond. And it’s part of our dedication and commitment to local communities that started 75 years ago.

So, who is the ideal candidate? We’re looking for people who volunteer with organizations that promote physical, mental or social wellbeing. This includes senior’s associations, community groups, school councils, arts or culture groups, agricultural societies, children’s activity organizations and amateur sports teams.

How to nominate someone?

If you know someone who’s making a difference in your community, here’s how you can get them recognized:

  • The volunteer must be nominated by the Alberta-based non-profit, charitable or community-based organization they volunteer with to be eligible for this grant.
  • The volunteer must be 18 years of age or older.
  • The volunteer cannot be in a paid position with the organization.
  • The volunteer must accept the nomination to be eligible.

We’re accepting nominations until June 30, 2023. Award recipients will be announced at the end of August.

Don’t wait—together, we can celebrate and support the exceptional volunteers who are making a difference in our communities.
