Blue Cross policies regarding CPAP machines is unreasonable and will cause me harm in order for me to jump through their requirements for them to partially cover the cost of replacement. I have been using a cpap for at least 15 years. I had a sleep study done 15 years ago. at that time and I don’t even know if at that time if they gave it an AHI# which they want now. my study was quite comprehensive and i participated for a year. but I cannot find the records of it. My doctors office, my cpap provider or blue cross cannot cannot find it. In order for me to get a new test I have a requisition. the problem is the test requires that I do not wear a Cpap machine for 3 days before the test. Apnea is only part of the problem that I use the machine for I also snore as load as a bear and no one in the house will sleep. plus I will not be able to talk after that due to the damage done to my throat. I have had several different health care providers over the years and this has never been a problem. So why is the Blue Cross making it a requirement that i am personally harmed in order for to cover only half of replacement through a provider? Seniors alberta blue cross does not cover any CPAP supplies or machines. My partners Blue cross is as described as above. My advice to anyone thinking of using Blue Cross as an insurance provider is Stay away.
